perplexity-subscription-mcp is a Python MCP server and client, built on an open-source Perplexity web client, for developers who want coding agents to use an existing Perplexity web subscription instead of the metered API.

I wrote the MCP server layer, the optional FastAPI wrapper, the packaging and the PyPI release pipeline. It is unofficial and relies on the session cookies of your own Perplexity account.

What it does

  • Four MCP tools: search, follow_up, list_threads and get_thread
  • Modes: auto, pro, reasoning and deep research; sources: web, scholar and social
  • Works with Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf and Codex CLI
  • Optional FastAPI wrapper; packaged with Hatchling and published to PyPI by a GitHub Actions workflow
