InstaDial
Home-screen widget that starts a WhatsApp call in one tap
InstaDial is an Android widget for people who call the same contacts on WhatsApp often. It puts them on the home screen as photo buttons, and one tap starts a WhatsApp voice or video call without opening WhatsApp.
Version 2 is written in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose; the first version, from October 2025, was in Java. It is on Google Play and is not affiliated with WhatsApp.
What it does
- 1x1 contact widget, stretchable into separate voice and video buttons or a large photo tile
- Favourites widget: a speed-dial grid of up to 12 people on the home screen
- App-icon shortcut; long-press the icon to call the first four favourites
- Optional confirm-before-calling step so an accidental tap never starts a call
- No internet permission, no ads and no tracking; contacts are read only on the device
