Ember
Sync clipboard, files and notifications from Android to Mac
Ember syncs an Android phone with a Mac for people who use both: clipboard text and images, files in both directions, and phone notifications mirrored to the Mac. Transfers are end-to-end encrypted.
The Android app, written in Kotlin with Jetpack Compose, is live on Google Play. The Mac companion, a Swift menu-bar app, is in App Store review.
What it does
- Text, images and files sync both ways; notifications from chosen apps appear on the Mac
- X25519 key exchange, AES-256-GCM per message; keys are generated on the devices and stay there
- Picks a route per transfer: Bluetooth, local Wi-Fi or an optional cloud relay
- The optional relay is zero-knowledge: it forwards encrypted data it cannot read and stores none
- Pairs by scanning a QR code shown on the Mac; needs Android 11 or later
